Hello Delco ARES Members, please read the request below from Cliff Hotchkiss, KC3PGT, EC for Philadelphia County ARES and American Red Cross SEPA DST Regional Lead.
Good Morning All,
This summer SEPA Red Cross and Philadelphia County ARES will be supporting the city with the FIFA World Cup games, the 4th of July/250th Parade, and the MLB All-Star Game. We will be needing between 6 and 10 amateur radio operators for each event stationed around the city to offer communication support in the case of cell tower overload or standard communication disruption. This will require more operators than we have available and I am writing asking for your help.
Could you please share this information with your groups and ask if anyone would be interested in participating? They will be interesting events and will offer great real world operating experience. It would be ideal if those interested would be willing to volunteer with the Red Cross as Regional Amateur Radio Operators, even if only for these events.
The dates we will need help are:
June 14
June 19
June 22
June 25
June 27
July 4
July 14
Each date will involve approximately 8 hours, possibly more, of service. More information will be forthcoming from the city and I will share that with you as I learn it.
